Overview
Leslie Adkin continues to work on his father's farm Cheslyn Rise, near Levin. He also holds the lease on a separate property called the North Block, and spends much of his time working there. Farming activities this month include fencing, clearing land, firing fern and scrub, sowing grass, top-dressing, shepherding, dagging, docking, and attending stock sales. Leslie works with his father William, his brother Gilbert, and their farm labourers Andy and Jack.
At the start of the month Leslie secures a loan with Dalgety and Co. which will allow him to lease 30 acres of 'Section 42' and build a house. With this loan in place he is able to firm up his plans for a new homestead, and begin collecting building materials.
In his spare time, Leslie enjoys reading and taking photographs. He is also a regular church-goer.
