Overview
Tues. Nov. 30.
Again visited K+S's [Kirkcaldie + Stains] cutter + was fitted for my suit. Later we went to Smith + Smiths' to choose the wall-papers + designs for steel ceilings - were well served by agreeable salesman + were well pleased with our choices. Went to E. W. Mills + Co for fireplace tiles + to Stewarts Hardware Co. for door furniture. Maud + Mrs. Herd retired to "P.P." [Peoples Palace] to rest. I went down town again - visited K+S + had final fitting of suit. Called at various shops to pick up purchases, including Eaton's for the pictures + frames I purchased yesterday morning. The former included the lovely picture of Paul Chabas "September Morn" which I am giving to Maud in memory of this trip. We walked up to Pine Bank for

tea. Mother was there too, also Jack + his bride just returned from their honeymoon. After tea Jack + Elfie took Maud + I up to see their house which is situated in Brooklyn. We found it a charming little place, most beautifully finished, furnished + fitted up, quite a flawless little home. On return to "Pine Bank", Uncle Ralph cooly asked me to take Mother to "Fern Hill" in lieu of himself, thus leaving Maud + Mrs. Herd to return to the "P.P" alone. Even Mother thought it pretty tough of him. Spent an hour at "Fern Hill" before returning to hotel.
