Drove the 5 steers up to North Block - mixed them with the other 10 on Mill p[addock] + put the 4 best conditioned on Leighton p. Cut + split 13 hinau posts on Middle Spur. After lunch at whare rode over to Ohau Flat + split 95 rimu battens from logs cut some time ago. Threw 85 battens over the cliff near Horse-shoe Bend on Makahika + then rode round putting on old pants + boots, carried them over the river to the boundary fence (Kay's) on the narrow strip of land. Rode home for night. Miss Cobbe of Feilding, staying with us.
