Fine hot day - the drought has got to this

coast at last. Andy + I took my sheep + Gil + Scott Father's to Levin sale. My line of 200 lambs were much admired but I refused 10/3 for them as father wants them. The 27 cull lambs fetched 6/9 but my 20 cull ewes were not sold. Father's fat ewes (60) fetched 22/- - he bought 31 3 yr [year] bullocks at £6.7.6. Tea with Mr Kay. At yesterday's wool sale in Wgton [Wellington] my 6 bales of ewe's wool went at 14d [pence] per lb [pound]. Father is to pay me 9/10 nett for my 200 lambs and 11/- per head for the 20 ewes. Alec. Laing finished harvesting his oats off CK p[addock] making 5 fine ricks in SW corner of Cow p. Another very hot stifling night. Received news that Marjorie has passed the first section of the B.A. exams.
