east side of Gladstone Road between it + Leighton p[addock] fence - I am to pay him one weeks work + Father ditto for a second week. Mustered very quickly but had considerable trouble getting sheep over Makahika foot-bridge in spite of "run-in". I killed one ewe by hitting her on head with stick - took skin off. Got all over by 3 pm + decided to take them home same evening. Got down to Drive p. in four hours (7 pm). Counted in at front gate - 307 including 7 rams + five of Father's hoggarts [sic]. Put a cut of ewes in woolshed for night leaving rest in Drive paddock.
