Dull morning, fine afternoon. let sheep out of shed at 5 am + went back to bed for a while. Started dagging before breakfast - sheep damp from Saturday's rain so shearers did not start till 2 pm (D + S Morgan + W Broughton). They got thro' 121 ewes + 1 ram. Though I am satisfied with my lambs + with the way the ewes have come out of

wool, I am very disappointed with the quality of the wool which is log-stained, badly matted + yellow, broken fleeces + many small ones. Marked shorn ewes on shoulder with red raddle + oil. In evening put rest of ewes + rams in sheds, woolshed + cowshed. Received from dearest Maud her diary of our Xmas together - it was deliciously beautiful - so loving + fortunate am I to be blessed with such a sweetheart.
