Overview
Leslie Adkin is a farmer in the Horowhenua region, and manages two properties near Levin. He also works with his brother Gilbert, his father William, and their labourer George Bloomfield on the family farm, Cheslyn Rise. Farming activities this month include mustering, sowing grass seed, attending stock sales, and fencing.
Leslie married Maud Herd in December 1915, and the couple moved into their new home in March 1916. They host a number of visitors this month, including Maud's parents and her sister Olive.
On the 25th, Leslie writes of exciting family news, noting that 'Mrs. Herd + Maud put their heads together to compile a "Bimba List" of clothing' as his 'beloved wife has expectations of an event in November'.
In other happy news, Leslie's mother Annie returns on the 11th, having spent ten weeks in Wellington due to illness, and on the 19th Maud celebrates her 26th birthday.
