Rode to Levin on old Maori harnessed, got dray from Mackintosh s + drove up to Mr Lancaster s to get 3 large karaka trees + the mtn [mountain] cabbage-tree which he promised me last Sunday. Got them loaded all right with large balls of earth round the roots. Called at Newport s nursery + got the 7 Auricaria Imbricatas, 2 plum, 1 quince + 1 pear trees. Drove home + got everything safely planted. The 4 fruit trees as per diagram:-

After dinner drove Maud + Nancy to Levin but was too late for sale. Father bought 15 yearlings (12 steers + 3 heifers) at [symbol]4.10.0 + put them on turnips in Drive p[addock] with racks of hay. Nancy cut her first teeth (upper).
