Rode up to Sonoma  shepherded Leighton p[addock] + found a dead ewe on  1^st burn  pulled foxgloves on  1st burn . Half day s work at Leighton-Top p. fence, putting in 8 posts  hard sinking. Moved hoggarts [sic] from Mill p. to 100 ac[re] p. + let ewes in Leighton p. draw on to Mill p.  numerous lambs, looking well.
