Overview
Tues. Dec. 14.
The great + glorious day. Not being admitted to my Angel's presence, I put in time in town meeting the Lancasters + visiting the Methodist Church. When Ralph + Frank arrived in a taxi just before 1 pm, they found us attired + ready, so we were driven over to the house. Found all ready, guests seated + the minister, Rev. M.A. Rugby Pratt, awaiting. At 1.15 pm, I, accompanied by Harry McCalman as "best man" + Frank Goulding + Ralph as groomsmen, entered the dining-room to await my lovely bride. She appeared in a few minutes leaning on her father's arm + followed by her three bridesmaids Olive, Clare + Winnie. The wedding service then commenced by singing the hymn "The voice

that breathed o'er Eden" - then we made our responses + solemn vows, kissed each other as husband + wife + finally I led her forth on my arm along a rose-strewn carpet to the verandah, where we signed the register + kissed our respective newly-found parents. Then in the hall standing side by side, we received the guests + their kind congratulations. Then we went to the marquee for the wedding breakfast + toasts were proposed + responded to. Darling + I received some very nice + honouring compliments from the speakers. Rev. Pratt in his speech, compared our own union to two drops of dew forming one dewdrop. I got through my speech fairly well to my great relief, this was perhaps the biggest ordeal of the lot but went off better than I expected. At 2.45 Maud + I + our attendants motored down to the photographers, Wallace Poll, + had two groups taken, one full group + the other of just the two of us. Returned to the house to change + then drove off in a car to Pakipaki amid showers of rice, good-wishes, confetti + congratulations, not to mention the pair of old boots dangling behind. On alighting at Pakipaki we found ourselves in midst of same old crowd - they had followed us in other cars. We had to wait half-an-hour for train + had a merry time.. Trained to
