Overview
Mon. Dec. 13.
Father + I were driven down to Napier Mail train en route for Hastings for my wedding. The Lancasters were on same train + Harry W. Calman joined us at Palmerston North. Arrived Hastings at 5.40 pm - darling Maud met me. Also Mr. Herd + Ralph - latter took my luggage to Pacific Hotel + Softie + I walked down to Grays Road to tea + to see preparations for the great event. Large marquee erected on the lawn for wedding breakfast was very nice - dining-room arranged + decorated similar to a church for the ceremony. Beautiful display

of wedding gifts in drawing-room - Maud's to me, a lovely writing desk + I gave her a dressing-case. We had tea in the marquee + it was so nice + cool.- Darling sat by me so I was more or less deliriously happy. Later in evening Harry + I went along (on way back to hotel) to Laurie's house + saw Father, Mother + Clare who are staying there.
