Mr. Bevan arrived at 6.15am to lift the ewes + lambs. He drafted out a few lame ones taking 203 at 30/-. I helped him drive them for a couple of miles till we met his son. Rode to Levin + then home. After early dinner Father, Gil, Andy + I rode up to South Block to fire scrub in Intake p[addock] + East Creek Gully. This is a splendid chance as there has been a fortnight's dry weather + today is hot + clear with a nor-east wind. Fired the spurs on each side of lower parts of East Creek + the flat alongside Ohau R[iver] on both sides East Creek + remaining ferny spurs on Dirty Basin. Made a huge success of it - large areas being swept quite clean.
