Gave myself a black eye + a cut forehead (a narrow escape of losing eye) by running into a spike of timber near whare. Split a few pukatea posts on 100 acre p[addock] east fence-line. At 9.30 Andy arrived + we cut up several lengths of hinau for posts for this fence + sawed up the big rata

on line near Main Spur gate. Got strainers for Boulder Spur gate in position. After Andy left I made a good crossing, with pieces of the rata log, over a swampy hollow on line. There are a lot of lambs about now - very healthy looking + several pairs of twins - put a rather poor ewe with twins into Mill p. The wonderful clear dry weather continues.
