Overview
Sat. Aug. 21.
Sowed pig-rootings on East Low Hill & saddle at top of Boulder Spur + worked at 100 acre p[addock] fence. Later in afternoon walked up to hilltop, fired some patches of fern. Put the 58 battens on east b[oun]d[ar]y fence + plucked a dead ewes [sic] on "2nd burn". Put 3 steers from south end on to Mill p[addock] making 30 there. Home for night. Received two lovely letters from Maud - the most glorious darling. We are both lucky, I think me to get such a splendid girl, + she to get a man no worse than I. I write this in all humility.
