Threatening morning but ventured out, Maud + I driving to the Raupari Road farm in gig. Heavy showers came on so we went into "Gibb's house" on the farm to investigate it - took a measurements of rooms to see how they compared in size with those in our proposed home. Got a few hints for our inside arrangements. One incident I needn't further describe than to say that she took a cup-hook out of a wall while my attention was momentarily

diverted, triumphantly waved it in my face a few moments later, but finally forgot all about it when we got back home. I put this in as a memory test. Went with Ralph + Mr Herd to see some of their Romney ewes + lambs - he has wintered about 1100 on about 150 acres but they look well. Mr Herd went back to us in gig through the driving rain to dinner. In afternoon Mrs Herd, Maud + I drove into town. We went to a pastrycook's to see a new style of wedding cake + then had afternoon tea + discussed Maud's + my wedding. Spent a long evening in drawing-room, first discussing the details + specifications of my future house with Mr Herd, Mrs Herd + Darling being present, + later Darling + I chatted + loved each other till very late.
