Left Levin for Hastings by Napier Mail, Clare driving me to station. Maud met me at Hastings, sweetly kissed me + we walked down to Gray's Road. Mrs Herd had tea ready for us + after half-an-hour's chat with the family. Beloved + I retired to the drawing-room to enjoy ourselves. She was of course, impatient to see the new proposed plan

of our future house + we discussed it + also looked at the speciments of asbestos sheeting, ruberoid etc which we expect to use in its construction. Had a very happy time till bed-time.
