Tues. Aug. 3.
Up to east bdy [boundary]-fence alongside "1st burn" - put on the 24 miro battens + split a length of rimu battens (90). At 2pm walked along hilltop to Foxtail Spur + fired fern on same right down to 100 ac[cre] p[addock] fence. Did a little good I believe. Home for the night. Father back from Wgton [Wellington] where he had another of his bad turns - dizziness etc. This was a cloudless hot day - magnificient weather.
