Thurs. July. 15.
Up to east bdy [boundary] fence. Put in 7 more posts including two long ones on either side of the huge rimu log which makes a break in the fence. Then continued clearing line + laid out more posts. Found more cattle tracks along fence-line + on investigation found a big track into bush from S[outh] E[ast] corner of "1st burn" - this is evidently where the 8 steers got out + I hope there were no others. Went across the "1st burn" shepherding + found the big staggy roan steer (which Mr. Tress rescued the other day) very poor, so after work, took him down + put him + another into Mill p[addock] making 21 there. Home for night.
