Heavy rain in night + a continuous downpour lasted all morning. T he river + creeks quickly rose into very high flood, the latter flowing over the flats in all directions. The pond held up by the sawdust overflowed westward past the stable. We did odd work in the stable etc. until 2 pm. + then returned home. Read "The Adventures of a Modest Man" by Robt Chambers.
