Another very sultry day. Len + I continued trimming up fence-line (east bdy [boundary]), carried out posts + put 14 in, opp[osite] top Main Wedge Spur. The block is looking very bare now + cattle on Leighton p[addock] getting short. Home for night. Rain in evening. Half-yearly report to Dalgety + Co.:- 370 ewes @ 16/6 = £305.5.0 9 rams @ 2 gns [guineas] = £18.18.0 Condition of sheep: Breeding ewes in lamb - condition good. Cattle:- 69 2 yr steers @ £4.10.0 = £310.10.0 Condition:- Steers in good winetr condition. Leasehold:- 370 acres Rent £150 (quarterly) Value of interest £370 Am[oun]t. expended in improvements: £20 + 100 by the lessor [Note:- Fencing exs. to date 30 chains hilltop + 5 chains Narby's bdy [boundary]]

Condition of property:- Last season's "burn" has grassed well + the carrying capacity of property is steadily increasing. Prospects promising.
