Mon. Feb. 15.
The carrier took my 8 bales + Father's 4 bales of wool to station to forward Dalgety's sale in Wgtn [Wellington] on 26st inst[ant]. I rode down to consign + help load trucks. Returned home + took 6 blackface rams to the Ram Fair - they only fetched 10/6. There was a big yarding at Ram Fair + a good attendance but few buyers so we got bargains:- Father bought 8 rams - Romney + Shrop[shire]. I bought 2 Romney rams - 1 from H. Calleson of Kariri @ 2 3/4 guineas + 1 from Smith Bros of Linton @ 2 1/2 guineas. Met Maud in town + after afternoon tea went for a ride thro' Fairfield to see some new styles of house, viz. asbestos etc. + got some good ideas. A most enjoyable outing. After tea picked Japanese plums at bottom of orchard + also cuddled my Maudie. And in evening I showed her a plan of our future homestead.
