Overview
Wed Decr 16
About midnight heard swish of rain on roof of whare - torrential downpour from 4 to 6.30, up at 5.15. Andy did not turn up so Ernie and I mustered ewes + lambs + drove them into the "lead in" but they would not face the wet and shiny bridge. Got some over after a great struggle + then others began to swim the flooded river + were washed down. So gave up job leaving the sheep on each side of the river - some ewes + lambs separated. Home wet through. Mr Kingdon drafting Father's fat wooly[sic] lambs (off ewes), marked 255 at 15/6 - a grand deal, better than last year. Mr Bulliman bought 32 fat bullocks at £8.15.0 to be lifted in lots during next three months. Weather still very threatening, so may put off shearing till after Xmas.
