Rode up to North Block. Got two steers out of Kay's + put them on Mill p[addock] - could only see 31 of the 33 others in Mill p. Finished lining the second whare + made a set of shelves for my whare. After dinner shepherded the south end + Leighton p. - plucked two ewes found last week - numerous new lambs in all three paddocks - I have about 60 undocked lambs already. Visited Grange in bush + told him of the scrubbing job (along west ridge of felled bush) which we propose offering him. Carried tools over to 100 ac[re] p. fence ready for work to-morrow. Showers on way home. A new man, Dick Andrew, who is to camp with me UR arrived to-day. It is stated that the Germans lost 400 000 men in France alone. The Russians invade Hungary - cholera has broken out in Vienna. The battle of the Aisne rages - Germans driven back inch by inch.
