Overview
Mon. Sept. 21.
Rode up to North Block to camp. Made three gates for sheep-yards. Godfrey Reid who is now in charge for a Mr. Narby of Mr. Styles' late farm, came down to borrow wire-strainer + stayed yarning for some time. After an early dinner I took seed up to the Skyline + Track Spurs + sowed patches burned a few weeks ago - found one of the two poor ewes in Ram p[addock] dead - her lamb will also die. Worked at upper crossing on track to main Leighton p. gate, digging a channel in the gravel for the water + making a bridge of pungas etc. Mustered ewes + lambs on Stuckey's side of Mill p. + with Reid's help moved them over the river. two more dead ewes on Stuckey's side - also a fine big lamb + a ewe with bearings out. Tied her up but am afraid she is doomed. Skinned the freshest of the dead ewes. A very bad day - the ewes seem to be terribly poor + feeble in spite of the fresh feed in Mill p. In evening made final preparations for docking tomorrow. Lovely clear night.
