Heavy showers just before daylight - + threatening after breakfast. There are a lot of shags about - I saw several perched on a dead tree near the "Kopje". Anstice + I rode over as far as foot of Track Spur + walked to Ohau end of east b[oun]d[ar]y fence. Finished stapling wires + started battening. This makes a splended finish to the fence - we got up line to within 3 ch[ai]ns of kink in fence at overhanging rata. Knocked off at 3.10 pm + walked up to Ohau Summit. Anstice went down benched track + picked up horses while I went down Ravine Spur + got a steer which we saw on hills this morning - only 2 missing now. I saw about 11 good hoggarts [sic] on south end - missed when mustering last Monday. Home to sleep.
