Overview
Tues. May 19
Anstice + I rode up to North Block to run out + draw up the barbs on third + last section of the east b[oun]d[ar]y fence on Ohau slope. The coils for this section were on flat at the lower end of the Ohau gorge so we carried them up gorge about 30 chains on horseback to river-bed below end of fence. This took two journeys. We landed coils of wire on rock ledge at foot of cliff there being no shingly bed on this side of gorge just heare. I took the horses further up strem to corner at intake of Levin H.P. water supply + went back thro[ugh] the bush to the fence. I lowered a rope over the 20ft cliff. Anstice tied on the coils of wire + I hauled them up to the level of the fence. We then carried the wire up hill + ran it out down hill

+ strained up. Finished the wiring of the fence except for 1/2 hour stapling, right down to cliff above river, so that now cattle cannot get out onto bush on this slope. In the bush I saw cattle camping places but no very fresh tracks. In evening rode down to Levin to meeting of Methodist Church stewards.
