Overview
Wed. Apr. 15.
Mustered the 287 fat wethers (former Waikanae etc. hoggarts [sic]) + Mr. Kingdon drafted out 116 at 19/- . Several sheep have died to braxy or gid the last few days. After dinner I took the following ½ plate photos (1) Maud among the cosmos; (2) Maud + Amy on the steps leading down to rose garden; (3) Maud, Clare, Agnes + Amy in the pergola; (4) the four girls in the rose garden; + (5) Another group on little lawn beside stream – “He loves me, he loves me not.” After this we dipped the 171 remaining wethers + Maud, Amy + Agnes came down to watch operations. Amy + Agnes returned to Wgton by the Napier Mail Maud driving down with Mother + Clare to see them off. My darling looked lovely in a grey costume, red hat with flowered silk ribbon + red silk tie. We were invited to Mr + Mrs J. G. Vincent’s for the evening + got quite ready but very heavy rain stopped us at last moment. After some games, Maud + I looked at books [page break] together and had a glorious time.
