After some sheperding at home, Father Gil, Cliff, Jim, Anstice, + I rode up river to muster the 504 hoggarts [sic] (or 2-tooths) on South Block. Got 497 of them + a straggler ewe + lamb into yards + went through them marking with raddle into following lots :- (1) Forward wethers, ewes suitable for keeping for breeding from + other ewes; + (2) poorer wethers for leaving up river (number - 164) The first lot numbering 333 + 2 we brought home.

At midday we fired a lot of logs + heaps round the S[outh] Bl[oc]k sheep-yards + they burned well.
