Overview
Sun. Feb. 22.
Another blazing hot day. Cycled down to Mr. Lancaster's before church + took two photos of grapes in their green-house. After dinner got the 324 Kelson lambs into sheep-yards ready for drenching to-morrow morning. Then I rode up to the North Block to fire a rata log which partly blocks my benched track leading from the "Ohau Flat" to "Ohau Summit". The fern was so dry that I put in fires all the way down + along the bottom of the Track Spur. The fire went very well considering that no scrub had been cut + it swept the Track Spur + part of next spur to eastward. The fire when I left was slowly eating its way into the upper part of Rockey-toe Spur against

the faint breeze. Drove to church in evening - Mr. Harris (young supply minister) preached a very remarkable + clever sermon. To me he gathered up all the loose threads of the theology I have previously heard + wove them into a complete + comprehensive whole. His sermon was really a resume of the last enacted chapter of evolution as directed by the Creator, namely, the evolution of man from his animal state to his spiritual state. He pointed out that sin was + is merely the force, factor or means used by God to bring about this evolution. This is only the substance of, + not the actual account of his remarks, but the above is the impression I received.
