Anstice + I took the 32 UR steers to Levin sale + got £5.0.6 – also 1 springing heifer £4.5.0 – brighter sale than for some weeks, brisk bidding. Hot day in Levin + heavy rain on hills + home farm. Bought working boots 19/6 leggins [sic] 17/-. Uncle Bert to tea. Read “The Palace of Logs” by Robert Barr.
