Pipe draining in SE corner of CK p[addock]. Put in a short drain first to get practise. My first attempt at this work but was successful – dug trench with 4 inch draining spade in bottom or ordinary drain + laid in the 3 inch pipes – covered them with stones 6 inches deep. After tea Clare, Dora + I drove Mrs Cork + Miss Alice Wilson to Lake Horowhenua – the party of 10 or dozen rowed across lake in two boats to surprise party at Mrs Hector McDonald’s. Lovely cool evening – 2 mile row there – same back. Home at 1 am.
