Gil, Anstice + I rode up to North Block + finished cutting east boundary line of block of bush on top of hill. We found that yesterday we got about opposite to the top of North Ravine Spur. From this point onward the line kept on east side of ridge just below the crest + cross the basin-shaped hollows at the top of the gullies running east. After a while it (the line) ran over crest of ridge + along the west slope just below crest for a few chains – then back over crest to east side again + so to the end on the old side again + so to the end on the old east boundary of N. Block about 5 chains (as expected) north of the “Ohau summit”.

The new line proved very satisfactory + I do not think we could have hit it better. A cold east breeze blew all day + Father lit heaps round rimu stumps on rise in SE corner of CK. p[addock].
