Overview
Leslie Adkin continues to work on his father’s property Cheslyn Rise, near Levin. Lambing begins this month, and Leslie is also busy with surveying, track-cutting, boundary-marking, stumping and logging, top-dressing, crutching, and drenching. He works with his brother Gil (Gilbert), his father William, and their farm labourer Anstice.
On a number of occasions, Leslie visits his sweetheart Maud Herd at her parent’s home in Bruce Road, Levin. On the 26th the two have a ‘serious talk,’ but ultimately they part ‘good friends and happy.’
In his spare time Leslie enjoys reading novels and taking photographs, and this month he continues to work on a series of photos depicting the history of his relationship with Maud. He also attends two dances, a lecture on ‘Modern Developments and Tendencies,’ and a motion picture.
On the 23rd, Leslie notes the passing of Reverend W. Tinsley, and three days later records the death of Mrs Tinsley. He attends the funeral with his father.
