Gil, Anstice + I rode up to North Block to cut line for bushman on top of hill. Started at 10 chain peg (or north boundary of bush block) + cut in about 18 chns [chains] but finding the line to be too close in to heads of gullies running down on to North Block we decided that it would not do. Gil + Anstice returned home + I cruised round in bush to find a more suitable line running along ridge itself + further east than the line we cut. After taking it over with Father at home, we decided to make the north edge of bush block 12 ½ chns instead of ten + to run to a point only 60 chains along the former east boundary of N[orth] Block instead of 65 chns

along ditto. In evening drove down to meet Mother on her return from W’gton [Wellington]. The first lamb arrived to-day (“old” ewes).
