Jim + I put up a fresh lot of cyclone fence in swedes in Ck p[addock] ready for advancing the hoggarts + putting wethers (now UR) on the shells left by the hoggarts. In evening Clare + I drove down to Mrs Cork’s – Miss Urquahart, Miss D Cork, the Misses Wilson, (Sergeant-major) Davidson + Clare + I walked down Queen St to the Lake – beautiful moonlit night.

Lake perfectly calm + reflections of cloud + trees in water exquisite. On return to Mrs Cork’s we spent rest of evening playing card games.
