Jim + I took dray up to Ohau R. to get sand for asphalting backyard + trap shed. In afternoon Father, Mother, Clare + I drove down to the Otaki Electoral No L[icense] League annual meeting. A good number present – members from Foxton, Otaki etc + a number of Levin ladies including the Herds + Maud. Election of officers for ensuing year + much other business. Mr Herd, president in Chair, Rev Dawson. Sec[retary] NZ Alliance, arrived during

meeting. I gave a short report on the pro-[gress] of the local committee dealing with the Democratic Vote Campaign. At 5.30 we all went into the Century Hall I partook of an excellent repast provided by Levin ladies. The public meeting commenced at 8pm in Century Hall when Rev Dawson delivered a splendid address on No License + the Democratic Vote Campaign in connection therewith. Sat with Maud + Clare. Read “The Time Machine” by HG Wells – a very remarkable book.
