Overview
Pseudopanax includes the lancewoods and five-fingers, with twelve species of small trees, all endemic to New Zealand.
Although several species are common and widespread in the wild, others are quite restricted. Some are popular in cultivation.
Notable features include the heteroblasty of the lancewoods (i.e., the juveniles look very different to the adults) and hybridisation between very different-looking species.
