Drove Uncle Will down to first train - arrived early so drove down Beach Rd. After early lunch drove to M Gorringe's clearing sale along Arapaepae Road. Faterh arrived there later + a little later Clifford with the terrible news that Gilbert had succumbed to his wounds on 10th inst[ant].We all returned home immediately. Heavy driving rain rest of day.
