Drove down to Levin sale - Kibbells stud flock auctioned + most lots were passed but others realized from 5 1/4 to 1 1/4 gns [guineas]. Took Wilf Law (on final leave) + Clif to afternoon tea. Visited old brick-kiln site to inspect the clay layer + now believe there are two layers, a thick seam between upper + lower sandstone beds, + a thinner bed (weathered sandstone) on slopes of sandstone knolls - intend taking accurate levels to try to determine this. Called at Newports for apple trees: 4 of Newports Stone Pippin for last row in orchard, + one Alfriston to replace tree damaged by hares.
