June 10 Mon.
Rode to Sonoma taking the 9 steers from far 42 + put them on Mill p[addock] with the other 46. Spent rest of morning searching for the 5 missing steers without success - I can't understand where they could have got to. The dry weather + a good breeze tempted me to try to burn the rata east bdy [boundary] at top of Leighton Spur but it was too damp so I went on clearing line

for Leighton-Grange p. fence, cutting a strainer + posts etc. Moved the 44 lame + poor sheep from Ram to Mill p.
