Very dull morning. After breakfast I walked up to Mount Cook + took 1/2 pl[ate] photo (46) of Wgton [Wellington] College, St Marks Church + Govt [Government] House from this point, also (47 + 48) a panorama

of Wgton showing Mount Victoria + harbour. Returned to P[eople's] P[alace] + Clif + I then walked up to Newtown Park. 1/4 pl panorama (49 + 50) of the Park from top of slope to right ot Main Entrance. Visited Zoo + took 1/4 pl snaps (51) Zebu or Indian humped cattle, cow + bull (Bos Indicus) (52) European Fallow deer steer (Dama vulgaris) (53) Angora goats (Capra Hircus) natives of Asia, + red kangaroos (Macropus rupis) from Central Australia. Leaving Zoo we walked down to Constable St + along the ridge leading to Mount Victoria + followed it past the Signal Station to the heights above Hataitai. Photo (54) of Hataitai, Kilbirnie, + Lyell + Evans Bays. Descended through Roseneath byzig-zagroads + paths to the plantation at the top of Grass St. Took a snap (5)showing Uncle Percy's house. Went to the Kiosk for luncheon + found the dining room very nicely fitted. The diners all looked well-to-do people + includedmembers of the "Look Who's Here" theatrical company. The dinner was excellent + in the best style.

+ only 2/- per head. I asked the tariff + was told 9/- per dayand £5.5 per week for married couple, "and we will give you a nice room too" said the proprietor. After this we walked round to the boat harbour + took photo (56) of same + one (57) of a yacht sailing out. Walked to end of Clyde Quay wharf + had a close view of the camouflaged transport 143, the SS "Arawa". Returned to the P[eople's] P[alace] - Clif decided to stay in - I changed + walked up to Pine Bank. Auntie Ralph gave me her usual kind welcome + Lil, Mrs Bert Ralph + Mr + Mrs McDowell were also there. Uncle Ralph brought a Mr Cumming + his sisters + Messrs Burton + Fisher to tea, after which we looked round the garden + later I walked to church with Aunt Ralph. Rev Chapman preached. After church Lil + I trammed up to Brooklyn, + walked up to "Coneston". It was rather late + Jack + Elfie were preparing to retire but they let us in + we had a pleasant chat. Retunred to Pine Bank on foot going thro' lower end of Central Park.
