Afger breakfast Clif + I took a tram at Courtenay Place + went out to the Mirimar termanus. Climbed the zig-zag path leading to Karaka Bay, taking a 1/4 pl[ate] photo (32) of the Miramar flat. Crossed hilltop + took photo (33) of northern end of Karaka Bay with Soames Is in distance. We then followed the road that skirts the rocky shore. Photo (34) of Seatoun with Pencarrow Lighthouse on left + tram tunnel on right + one (35) of Seatoun + wharf from Worser Bay. Went past the tram tunnel + followed a road leading to the "gap" - climbed hill above road cutting overlooking Breaker Bay + Wgton [Wellington] Heads. Seatoun from the "gap". Returned to the tram route + took photo (38) of tram coming thro' tunnel + caught tram back to town. Dined at the P[eople's]Palace] + then we caught the tram to Island Bay to go to Aquatics Carnival in aid of theRed Triangle Fund + the official opening of the diving stage. A huge crowdgoing out + trams packed. Took a (39) of crowd boarding the trams at Courtenay Place. On arrival at the Bay went on roof of the Blue Platter Tea House + took photo (40) of Bay + large crowd already assembled. The beach was very crowded. The Mayor, Mr Luke, made a speech, also Mr Wright, M.P. + Mrs Luke cut the ribbon connecting the diving stage with the shore. 1st, Miss Rigg 2nd + Miss Allen 3rd. The dense crowd digging for "treasure" was a sight to see, so was the mob about 20 deep round the afternoon tea tent. Left at 4.30 + trammed back to Basin Reserve. Photo (45) of Basin + cricketers with St Mark's Church + College beyond. Returned to P.P. + changed. At 5.30 we strolled down town + spend an hour at Kings Theatre. Then walked round oriental Bay to Uncle percy's home to tea. Introduced to Miss Ethel Hines, the lady help, + after tea Norry, Harry + Trix performed in pyjamas + we saw little Molly in bed. Uncle Perce took us over the house + showed us hiw Indian + other art treasures. Spent rest of evening looking at stero + other photos. Did not leave till after midnight + as I had to change plates, did not get to bed to 1.40 am.
