Overview
Wed. Jan 23
Fine hot day. Father, Frank, Clif [+] I rode up to Sonoma via South Block. Grange
[page break]
accompanied me leaving his bike at South Bl[oc]k whare, to be shown the patches he is to scrub for me, on Top p[addock]. Crossed Ohau on wire bridge + going up terrace-face only a few yards from where he was to start work, Grange said he would not go any further + abandoned the work. I joined Father + the boys + we spent the day clearing + logging up a wide track from foot of Combine Spur, down a slope + along a good terrace to the foot of the grassy spurs near SE corner of Sonoma. Fine permanent work, giving good access to both sheep + cattle + making last years "burns" in the rough corner safe. After work Clif, Frank + I had a dip in the Ohau in the gorge. Nancy took her first steps alone.
