Started digging up vegetable garden + planted a bed with marrows. Drove down to Levin sale. Interviewed Mr. Pike, of BNZ + got a temporary increase on my overdraft (till Jan[uary] 15th) of £25. Bought of Loan + Mercantile Co[mpany] a line of 12 mostly well-bred 2 y[ea]r steers at £8.10.0. One of these steers has a swollen leg. Drove home + rode back for steers. Rev[erend] Hosking, of Masterton, who has come to Levin for the Synod, arrived to stay with us. After tea I drove him down to the evening meeting. Speeches by visiting ministers, including a most interesting address by Chaplain Rands, on the men + life in the Military Camps. musical items + supper. The Mayor, Mr Blenkhorn, presided over the meeting.
