Overview
Tues. Nov. 13
Rode down to Levin sale. Cattle Fair in Abraham + Williams yards + very big yarding of good cattle - a record for Levin. Unfortunately the scarcity of buyers, together with drop in prices owing to Gov[ernment] fixing price of beef at 47/6 per 100, caused a large proportion of the stock to be passed. Father bought well-bred 15 months steers at £9 + 2 2y[ea]r steers at £8.12.6. In evening Claire + Marjorie came over to mind house + Maud + I drove down to the Anglican Bazaar. Guessing competitioins, also choruses by young ladies in fancy dress. Took Maude + Miss Alice Wilson to supper. Spent a very enjoyable evening. Rain fell during night.
