A wonderfully clear morning so took Maud + Nancy for a drive before going to the stock sale. Called at Mr Lancaster s + took (1) ½ pl[ate] photo of the snow-clad Tararuas with Hillcrest garden in foreground, ½ pl. of (2) Levin from Hillcrest, ½ pl. of (3) Mr + Mrs Lancaster _ Maud in garden at side of house with Salisbury Street leading away beyond. Maud, Nancy + I then drove down to the Lake. Took a ½ p. photo (4) Moutere Hill looking across the lake from the Kawiu. Then returned to Hillcrest left Maud + Nancy to stay to lunch attended sale very fine line of well-wooled hoggarts [sic] fetched 34/-. Weaner + yearling steers very dear but no rise in price of big cattle yet. On return to Hillcrest worked with Mr Lancaster while Maud + Mrs L. drove to Levin. Successfully developed photos in evening.
