Dug 18 tree-holes in orchard for planting apple trees. Drove down to Levin sale - prices still high but not much offering. After sale called at Newport's + got my 18 apple-trees. He gave me a lesson in pruning + I got him to cut back the apple-trees as an object lesson. There are 7 varieties in this lot of 18 + I am leaving room in the orchard for 4 more of another special variety of Newport's

own which I will be able to get next season. Got the 18 trees planted before dark all right. Mrs Lancaster, Amy + a Mrs Hazeldon up to see Maude. Mrs H's baby is bigger + heavier than Nancy but not so neat + pretty.
