Finished cutting the strip thro' bracken up ridge of Main Wedge Spur stopping about 2 chains short of the "2nd burn" where tall scrub starts - this can be cut later if required. In pm went on repairing Leighton-Mill p[addock] fence + later rode down to Woodside + Levin for stores, etc. Tea at Cheslyn Rise + at 10 pm rode back to Sonoma. The last few days westerly winds have been springing up at noon + dying away at 5 pm. Today an easterly commenced

+ tonight many fierce fires are raging on Arapaepae Range - also one in bush above cliff near head of water-races. On reaching Sonoma found fires on hilltop etc. going well - also the bush beyond hilltop burning fairly strongly.
