Easterly wind + showers with thunder. Rode up to Sonoma + pulled foxgloves on 100 ac[re] p[addock] all day. Tough work among bad patches. On return home found one of the 17 steers missing in far 42. Ascertained that it had been seen on Queen St. + searched till dark but without success.
