Put in strainers on Queen St. fence for entrance gate into far 42 as old Akerson is anxious to cart out the rimu firewood. Over to Cheslyn Rise for dinner + got letter from

Maud saying she was returning by Napier Mail today. Rushed home + completed the clothes drying rack for kitchen + hung it to surprise her + then drove down to meet her. There she was safe + sound + looking glorious - such a lovely colour + a sort of fascinating violet mistiness about the eyes - oh the sweet darling. Drove home + had tea together, then a hot bath together + spent a long evening in bed - it was divine.
